Looking for free online Wing Chun lessons? You can access our free video series, detailing the first hand pattern of the Wing Chun system here. You will get an email daily covering a small part of Siu Lim Tao each day – (Little Idea Form).
Siu Lim Tao has, in theory at least, the entire Wing Chun system within it. The first section is to understand the development of position and use of energy. The second section deals with explosive energy and the third section of the forms puts the two together in block and counter techniques.
While the entire form is performed from a still (static) stance, movements allow you to understand correct position and the defined limits of movements according to your body position.

The first form gives you a basic understanding of the positions within the Wing Chun system. In order to learn properly you will need to be able to play chi sau. Chi sau is the “heart” of the Wing Chun system and allows you to connect with another Wing Chun practitioner and understand real-time interaction with a “live” opponent.

Siu Lim Tao is the first hand pattern of the Wing Chun system. In later forms you will learn how to connect your body mass to your arm movements in order to generate huge power with only a little effort. Stepping and turning techniques are learned in the second hand pattern of Wing Chun. Through the email course you will also receive videos detailing elements of the second form (Chum Kiu).
The third hand pattern is called Biu Gee – (Thrusting fingers) and deals with recovery of over commitments and other techniques and movements not seen in the first two hand patterns. Traditionally Biu Gee was only taught to students who had earned the trust of their teacher over a long time period. As such it was often thought of as “secret” and shown only to a few.
