If you’re looking for a personal martial arts trainer, Tim Halloran offers private Wing Chun tuition in the Leeds area of West Yorkshire. Tim Halloran is the chief instructor at Leeds Ip Man Wing Chun and has over 30 years experience in a variety of martial arts.
Tim began studying martial arts at age 8 with Judo and later studied Karate, Taekwondo and Wing Chun. Despite finding a dedicated Wing Chun school at age 19 Tim continued to look to other styles and has training in Ninjitsu, Iaido, Eskrima and Aikido. However it was Wing Chun which he has dedicated most of his time to studying for over 20 years with a representative of Grandmaster Ip Chun.
More recently Tim has started learning Wing Chun from a different lineage to improve his knowledge through a Shu Shong Tin lineage (Hong Kong qualified) instructor Daniel Parr.
Tim is also a qualified stuntman and has worked many TV productions and films such as X-Men (First Class), The World’s End, Grimsby, Legend and Bad Education The Movie.

Personal Martial Arts Trainer – Why Wing Chun?
Having trained in Karate in my early teens I moved to Leeds looking for another Karate school. Not being able to find the same style I found a Taekwondo class. However I was looking for something more practical, rather than a sports orientated martial art which the Taekwondo school I was training at was. I found a Wing Chun teacher shortly after and realised it was what I was looking for. Wing Chun is sheer practicality and is for dealing with direct confrontation in a street fight situation.
Chi sau, the sticky hands practice of Wing Chun, allows you to respond to attacks very quickly with simultaneous counter attacks. When sparring with students of other styles the fast hands of Wing Chun gave me a huge advantage at close range. I was still “dabbling” in other martial arts but always gravitated back towards Wing Chun.
In 2010 I opened a school in Bradford which was to become the Leeds Ip Man Wing Chun school when classes opened in Leeds.
