Are you looking for private Kung Fu lessons? We offer locally based private Kung Fu sessions on an hourly basis. See our Private Wing Chun lessons page for details.
Private classes are useful for those who cannot attend class for some reason; or to increase your learning rate in addition to regular classes. It is highly recommended to attend classes if possible. Attending regular classes gives you a number of training partners and a broader range of experience.
However there are advantages to having one to one private sessions for a number of reasons too. You will have a faster rate of progression when learning the basics.
Private Kung Fu Lessons – What You’ll Learn
If you’re a complete beginner in Wing Chun Kung Fu, you will learn some basics including:
- Standing posture – correct standing posture is vital. Everything is built upwards from your connection to the ground. If your stance is not correct you can’t absorb force or deliver power at your maximum capability
- Basic positions – tan sau, fok sau and bong sau.
- Partner drills – dan chi sau, poon sau, lap sau and pak sau drills.
- Chi sau – sticking hands is the “heart” of Wing Chun and helps you coordinate position, use of energy, reaction and techniques.
- Forms – your first form practice will be a cornerstone of your practice. This teaches you fundamental principles which you will need to develop your Wing Chun.
Siu Lim Tao
Siu Lim Tao is the first hand pattern form of the Wing Chun system. In Cantonese, Siu means small, young, or just born. Nim (sometimes written as Lim) means idea, thought or reason. The word Tao means path, starting or beginning. Together, the phrase translates as “The Little Idea for Beginning.”
The Siu Lim Tao form is the beginning of your Wing Chun Kung Fu journey.
