Looking for Leeds Kung Fu? If you’re looking for Kung Fu classes in Leeds or Bradford please have a look at our site. We offer traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu classes in both Leeds and Bradford. We opened our doors in 2010 in Bradford and have a number of long term members training at the school.
Chief instructor Tim Halloran started his Wing Chun studies in 1993 with Sifu Colin Ward – senior representative of Ip Chun. In 2021 Tim began studying with instructor Daniel Parr, Hong Kong qualified instructor of the Chu Shong Tin lineage.
Wing Chun is a simple and effective style of martial art based on economy of motion and minimum movement. It’s effectiveness is in the simplicity of the style. Wing Chun is often thought of as a “concept” martial art which means it’s open to interpretation, so long as you stick to the main principles of minimum movement and economy of motion.
With only low kicks and an emphasis on striking, Wing Chun is most effective at close range.
Leeds Kung Fu – Chi Sau
Chi sau is the “heart” of the Wing Chun system and teaches a number of skills, including hand sensitivity, trapping, body position, use of energy, techniques and reactions. Chi sau allows practitioners to “play” in a safe setting where they can try out techniques and counters on a “live” partner. When both participants understand Chi Sau, it becomes a useful tool in which you can hone your skills against your training partner.

Gradings & Home Study
We don’t believe in gradings or belts at the school so if you’re looking to get a belt, this class probably isn’t for you. However, our instructors continually monitor your training and progression. Classes are delivered according to the needs of the student and what is most relevant at any given time. It is expected that you do some home study in addition to the classes as this will greatly speed up your progress.
