Leeds Wing Chun Classes – Shu Shong Tin
Shu Shong Tin studied under Grandmaster Ip Man and was his third student.
Early on, Chu questioned Master Ip about the meaning of the first Wing Chun form name – Siu Nim Tau – and was just told “keep practicing”.
He persevered in practicing this first form and eventually “felt something different while practicing. A sort of understanding that was not there before.” He told his Master about his experience and Ip Man started to call him “Siu Nim Tau Wong (小念頭王)” or “Siu Nim Tau King “

Leeds Wing Chun Classes – Est. 2010
Our school opened classes in Bradford in 2010 and Leeds in 2021. We now have several experienced instructors who share our passion for teaching Wing Chun in a relaxed and fun environment.
Tim Halloran is the chief instructor and his Wing Chun studies originally began in the lineage of Grandmaster Ip Chun through one of his most senior students Sifu Colin Ward, with whom he continued to study with for over 20 years.

Sung Wing Chun
In more recent years Tim has sought instruction from Daniel Parr, an instructor from the Chu Shong Tin lineage. He continues to travel to Sheffield to visit Dan regularly to improve his Wing Chun.
Chu Shong Tin was Ip Man‘s third student after Leung Sheung and Lok Yiu.
What sets us apart from other schools nearby is this connection with Dan Parr and his school in Sheffield and his understanding of the Chu Shong Tin method of Wing Chun.
“The soft power was like nothing I had seen in 20+ years of training Wing Chun”
Benefits Of Training Wing Chun
While Kung Fu skill is brutal and effective as a martial skill, training has a number of benefits such as calmness of mind, self awareness and improved health. It can also help you in your life in a number of ways, beyond the obvious self defence skills because of your shift in awareness.
Having confidence in a conflict can give you the calmness to handle it in a much more peaceful and resolute way. This attitude towards difficulties can be a solution to common problems and the trials and tribulations of everyday life.
Exercise generally can help alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression and it is known to be more powerful than strong anti-depressants. The mindful aspect of Wing Chun is good for your mental health and wellbeing. See also self help for depression and anxiety.
